How an IP video surveillance system connectsIP cameras connect by a single network cable to a PoE switch, which supplies video and power. The switch connects to the recorder with drives, which also feeds a local monitor and allows images to be viewed remotely over the internet, on a phone or computer.   1. Dome or bullet, depending on the location. Each connects by one network cable and sends a digital image.

  2. Gathers the cables and powers the cameras over the network cable itself, with no sockets next to each camera.

  3. Records the images on drives made for video. Recording time depends on the number of cameras and quality.

  4. Connected to the internet, it lets you watch live and review recordings on a phone or computer.

One cable per camera, one recorder and access from anywhere. Images must be protected with strong passwords and updates, so only the right people see them.
